Georgia Tech to Issue Pro-Rated Refunds

The health and well-being of our campus community is of utmost importance to the Institute. While Georgia Tech’s campus is not closed during this challenging time, campus services utilized by students including housing, dining, transportation, and recreation have been greatly affected.

As previously communicated, Georgia Tech has been working with the University System of Georgia (USG) to develop a refund plan that would apply to the mandatory and non-mandatory fees listed below. Fees will be pro-rated, beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020, for the remainder of the spring semester.

Pro-Rated Refunds for Mandatory Fees:

  • Activity $48 refund
  • Athletic $15 refund
  • Campus Recreation Center (CRC) Operations $19 refund
  • Student Center Operations $12 refund
  • Transportation $16 refund

Non-Mandatory Fees (refunds based on type of plan and usage, where applicable):

  • Housing fees
  • Dining fees (more information)
  • Parking permit fees – semester or annual (more information)
  • Living Learning Communities (LLCs)
  • Student Life: Tech-Prep (summer program)

All other fees have been carefully studied, vetted, and deemed to be essential to the continuity of instruction and business operations. In addition, tuition will not be reduced as courses have been moved to on-line instruction.

The Institute anticipates processing service fee refunds by April 8, 2020. Student accounts with unpaid balances may not receive the full refund. In these cases, the refund will be applied toward the unpaid balance.
